Rakuten GS Chemical uses Honeywell technology to produce phenol and acetone
On March 22, Honeywell announced that Rakuten GS Chemical will use Honeywell UOP'sQ-MaxTM, phenol 3G and Evonik MSHP process technologies to produce phenol and acetone at its chemical base in Yeosu, South Korea, with an annual output of more than 565,000 tons
.
UOP will provide solutions
for the project such as technology licensing, basic engineering design, key equipment, catalysts and adsorbents, and technical services.
As part of the project, UOP will provide an cumbene plant, a phenol plant and α-methylstyrene (AMS) hydrogenation technology
.
The combined unit of these technologies will enable Rakuten GS Chemical to produce phenol and acetone derivatives from benzene and polymeric-grade propylene
