SABIC, Mattel cooperation green toy materials
Recently, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced a partnership
with Mattel, the world's leading toy manufacturer.
SABIC will supply Mattel with renewable polymers
from TRUCIRCLE circular solutions.
The first Mattel MEGA and Matchbox branded toy products to be launched in 2022 will be produced with certified renewable polypropylene (PP), with other brands to follow
It is reported that Mattel is the first toy manufacturer to cooperate with SABIC to use the mass balance method to produce high-quality new plastic products using second-generation renewable raw materials
The partnership aligns perfectly with Mattel's goal of using 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials in its products and packaging by 2030, and is an important step
on the path of both companies towards a circular economy.
It is reported that the first product that SABIC cooperated with Mattel is "MEGA BLOKS Green Town", which is also the first toy series
to obtain carbon neutral certification in mass retail.
The sustainable use of materials in the Matchbox brand, which enables 100% recycling of the brand's die-cast cars, playsets and packaging, aligns with Mattel's corporate goals
Lada Kurelec, general manager of SABIC's polypropylene & E4P business, said: "Our partnership with Mattel is an important step in
helping customers across industries reduce their carbon footprint with high-quality materials.
In this field, Mattel is a pioneer in
the toy industry.
Our materials are based on renewable raw materials and enable a smooth transition
from fossil to bio-based raw materials without sacrificing purity and quality.
WE ARE EXCITED TO WORK CLOSELY WITH MARTAIEL TO CREATE ADDITIONAL VALUE
THROUGH THE DIVERSIFIED, SUSTAINABLE PORTFOLIO WITHIN TRUCIRCLE'S APPROACH.
