Original title: Italian study: Eating French fries a week doubles early deaths
Eating French fries increases the risk of early death, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
, lead author of the study and a scientist at the National Research Council in Padua, Italy, says the number of people eating French fries is increasing, and most of them are fried.
to study the relationship between eating French fries and the risk of early death, the researchers tracked 4,440 people between the ages of 45 and 79 over eight years to collect their weekly intake of fried and non-fried potatoes. A total of 236 people died during the observation period.
found that those who ate french fries twice or more a week doubled their early deaths compared to those who did not.
, a registered dietitian in New York, says potatoes can produce acrylamide during frying, a substance that is bad for the human body and advises people to eat less. (Guo Meng)
