Original title: Japan Study: Fermented soybeans are good for health, regular food or can reduce mortality
According to Japan's Asachi Shimachi, a team of researchers at Japan's National Cancer Research Center found that people who regularly eat fermented soy foods such as natto or big sauce have a 10 percent lower mortality rate than those who don't.
, the team has followed some 90,000 adult men and women in Japan for an average of 15 years since 1995. By asking about the diet, the consumption of soybean food and fermented soybean food was divided into 5 groups. The analysis excluded the effects of other foods and whether to take anti-depressants and other factors.
study found that the group with the highest intake of fermented soy foods (about 50 grams per day) had a 10 percent lower mortality rate for both men and women than the group with the lowest intake. 50g is equivalent to 1 box of natto.
study, eating more natto reduced mortality rates for men and women from circulatory organ diseases such as stroke or myocardial infarction.
"Minerals and isoflavones in fermented soybean foods are not easily lost, and may have a good effect on the body as a result," said Nagana, director of the Analytical Epidemiology Research Office at the National Cancer Research Center in Japan.
