    Crohn's disease (CD) is an idiopathic chronic inflammatory bowel disease, and severe Crohn's disease (CD) can lead to extensive bowel resection and require ileostomy
    .


    Calprotectin is a calcium and zinc binding protein belonging to the S-100 protein family

    The researchers retrospectively analyzed the clinical cases of adult patients whose ICD-10 code is CD in the Mayo Clinic electronic medical record from January 1, 2017 to September 30, 2020, and the ileostomy History of surgery
    .


    If the patient has measured FC at least once and simultaneously undergoes radiography and/or endoscopy, the patient is included in the analysis


     

    A total of 51 patients met the inclusion criteria, of which 17 patients had FC levels >60 mcg/g
    .


    Of these 17 patients, 14 were confirmed to have small bowel inflammation through imaging and/or ileoscopy, with a sensitivity of 87.
