Few lipidomics studies have specifically investigated the relationship between circulating glycerolipids and the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D), especially in Asian populations.

Recently, a research article was published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, an authoritative journal in the field of endocrine and metabolic diseases.

This is a prospective cohort study with 6 years of follow-up.

During the 6-year follow-up period, 463 participants developed T2D.

It can be seen that in the Chinese population, higher plasma DAGs and TAGs levels are associated with an increased risk of T2D, which may be partly explained by liver fat accumulation .
