Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) may have independent effects on bone remodeling and body fat regulation

Recently, a research article was published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, an authoritative journal in the field of endocrine and metabolic diseases.

The researchers analyzed 162 women and 158 men in the AGES-BMA cohort (mean age 82±4 years)

The researchers did not find an association between baseline FSH levels and changes in BMD or body composition

Although cross-sectional studies and studies of perimenopausal women have shown an association between FSH and BMD and body composition, in the elderly, there is no correlation between FSH levels and changes in bone mass or body composition
