Recently, GEC, a subsidiary of TTC Group, signed a contract with JGC Vietnam, a subsidiary of JGC Corporation, to build a 49 MW solar project
in Vietnam.
Yokohama-based engineering firm JGC will provide EPC services for the plant, which will be located in Krong Pa District, Gia Lai Province, in central Vietnam, covering an area of 75 hectares
.
The project, which is expected to be completed this fall, will provide electricity
to the equivalent of 47,000 Vietnamese homes.
The project will benefit from Vietnam's feed-in tariff (FiT) policy
.
Last month, GEC also contracted another Japanese multinational, Sharp, to build a similarly sized plant
in Thua Thien Hue province on Vietnam's central coast.
At the end of 2017, the chairman of TTC Group in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed that TTC would start construction of 150MW PV projects
in the first half of 2018.
JGS publicly stated: "The company has many plans to build large-scale solar power plants in Southeast Asia
.
Through this contract, JGC intends to increase its participation in renewable energy projects and proactively cooperate with overseas entities to receive orders
for such projects.
