Recent studies have shown that patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis have a higher risk of gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) compared with patients without renal disease (NRD)

Patients admitted for GIB (upper and lower) from 2005 to 2013 were extracted from the NIS database using the ICD-9 disease diagnosis
