    Recently, Jianzhong Xu’s research group from the School of Bioengineering of Jiangnan University has made important progress in the metabolic transformation of Corynebacterium glutamicum to produce L- lysine by one-step fermentation with starch as the main raw material.


    L-Lysine is an essential amino acid for humans and animals, and has been widely used in feed industry, food industry and pharmaceutical industry


    Associate Professor Xu Jianzhong’s team used a combination of "traditional breeding" and "genetic engineering breeding" to systematically modify Corynebacterium glutamicum and found that the bacteria can efficiently produce L-lysine using starch as the main raw material.


    Associate Professor Xu Jianzhong is the corresponding author of the paper, and Li Changlong, a master student in the School of Bioengineering, is the first author
