KHA/Nur-Sultan/April 26 – Kazakhstan will significantly increase support for the sugar industry
    .

Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Erpol Kalashukov said at a government meeting on the 26th that the total annual domestic consumption of sugar in Kazakhstan is about 532,000 tons, of which only about 7% is provided by domestic producers
    .

According to him, the reason for such a low supply of domestic sugar is mainly due to the small domestic production, the lack of irrigation water and employees in the sugar beet planting industry, the aging of equipment in sugar companies, and low-price dumping from Russian producers
    .

Karashukov said that at present, the problem of water use in the sugar beet industry has been basically solved
    .
This year's sugar beet area will increase from 14,500 hectares to 38,000 hectares
    .

The Ministry of Agriculture will also take measures to upgrade the technical level of the industry and develop related infrastructure
    .

At the same time, through the implementation of the modernization of sugar enterprises, it is expected that the output of domestic sugar products will increase from 332,000 tons to 1.
8 million tons, and the supply of domestic sugar to the domestic market will increase from the existing 7% to 43 million tons.
%, while imports will also be reduced by 32%
    .

The Minister stated that in order to achieve the above goals, necessary support should be provided to relevant practitioners by providing subsidies and loans in the next 5 to 6 years
