On March 16, Korea Kolon Plastics Co.
, Ltd.
and BASF signed an agreement under which the two parties will establish a joint venture in South Korea, and the two parties will build the world's largest comprehensive polyoxymethylene production facility
.
The new joint venture is named Kolon BASF innoPOM Co.
, Ltd.
, and the two parties have established a 50:50 share ratio with an annual production capacity of 70,000 tons.
The new device is scheduled to be put into operation in the second half of 2018
.
The device will be located in the Kolon Plastics Co.
, Ltd.
South Korea's Gimcheon production base, which has already built a polyoxymethylene production device
.
The POM products produced by this device will be sold to all parts of the world by the two companies according to their own trade names and patented formulas
.
BASF stated that after the new plant in South Korea is put into production in the second half of 2018, BASF's Ludwigshafen site will no longer continue to produce polyoxymethylene
