    Korea Power Co.
on Sunday released its annual sustainability report, which highlighted plans for state-run utilities to reduce or halt their coal-fired power plant projects
at home and abroad in the future.

Environmental and investment groups have increasingly criticized KPCO's "two-sided" business practices, closely synchronizing President Jae Moon Jae-in's "Green New Deal" initiatives at home with solar and wind projects, while investing in coal-fired power plant projects abroad
    .

Despite the announcement, the controversy has not subsided, as Kepco's pledge not to proceed with overseas coal plant projects refers to future projects
    .
Existing projects will continue to be completed
    .

"Of the four overseas coal-fired power generation projects currently planned, Indonesia's Jawa 9&10 coal-fired power plant and Vietnam's Vung Ang 2 coal-fired power plant will proceed
as planned," Kepco said in the report.

"However, we are currently reviewing the two remaining coal-fired power projects for cancellation or conversion to LNG, including the Thabametsi power plant in South Africa and the Pangasinan power plant
    in the Philippines.
