As a PV energy asset owner and operator, Lightsource BP has signed 20-year power purchase agreements with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and the Continental Divide Electric Cooperative (CDEC) for a 25MW solar project
    in the western United States.

The project will be developed within SMUD's territory and will support SolarShares
, a popular community solar project in the area.
Both SMUD and Lightsource BP are exploring options
    for adding energy storage systems.

In addition, Lightsource will develop and build a 9MW PV project
    within CDEC's territory.
Through this partnership, the energy generated on site will be distributed to its members
    through its own distribution system.

    Lightsource BP's U.
    S.
Chief Commercial Officer said, "We are pleased to offer affordable local solar
to our utility partners and their customers.
Our solar solutions will drive local economic development and job growth, improve utility customer satisfaction, and provide a cleaner, healthier environment
    for communities.

BP's head of solar added, "The U.
    S.
is an important market for renewables and Lightsource BP, and this announcement demonstrates the real momentum
    we've built across the country.
" These new collaborations build on BP's track record
    of operations.
    Wind farms across the U.
    S.
    are another example
of how we're driving the global energy transition.
