Recently, the 5th China International Import Expo Food Exhibition Area Promotion Conference and "China Dairy Industry Opportunities and Challenges under RCEP" Forum was held online

RCEP brings new opportunities for the export of agricultural products in areas with advantageous agricultural production

The full name of RCEP is "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership".

Ma Haihua, Director of the Imported Food Public Service Platform of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal Husbandry, introduced that, as the world's largest food importer, in 2021, China's food imports will total US$134.

The data shows that in 2021, China's food imports from RCEP member countries will total 46.

Demand for short-term dairy products will increase faster

Ma Haihua introduced that the development of imported food in China can be divided into four stages, namely the first stage from the beginning of import to the first occurrence of trade deficit in food and agricultural products in 2004, the second stage from 2005 to 2017, and the first stage from 2018 to 2021.

"Entering 2022, China's imported food industry is about to enter the development stage of brand ownership, R&D independence, Chinese taste, direct retail procurement, globalization of resources, and overseas production

It is worth mentioning that under the framework of the RCEP agreement mechanism, favorable factors such as tariff reduction, elimination of standard barriers, trade facilitation, preferential rules of origin, and investment liberalization will promote the recovery and sustained growth of the global economy

Exhibitors continue to be optimistic about the Chinese market and the platform of the CIIE

Tian Yifang, head of government affairs for Fonterra Group China, an exhibitor representative, said online that the CIIE is the best platform for international companies to promote the Chinese market and launch new products globally.

At the meeting, Zhang Juan, a researcher at the Institute of International Economics and Trade of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, shared the current situation and characteristics of China's dairy import trade, as well as the impact of RCEP implementation on dairy imports, and made suggestions for related companies engaged in dairy import
