On 6 November 2007, theMedicinesAuthority of Malaysia issued a circular amending the 1984 Regulation sregulating Medicines and Cosmetics by inserting 29A regulations following the insertion of 29A regulations following the main regulation sgoverning cosmeticsThis amendment sets out the notification requirements for cosmetics sold in MalaysiaThis circular procedure will replace the existing regulations (i.e., pre-sale approval) that require all cosmetics to be registered with the Drug Administration before they can be manufactured, sold, imported and exportedUnder this amendment, no person may hold, manufacture, sell, supply or import any cosmetics in Malaysia unless: - the cosmetics has been notified to the Director of the Malaysian Drug Administration Centre; and - that person has an appropriate certificate issued by the Director of the Malaysian Drug Management CentreThis amendment is in line with the implementation of the ASEAN Unified Cosmetics Management Plan (AHCRS) agreement signed on 2 September 2003, which requires all ASEAN member countries to implement the ASEAN Cosmetics Directive, effective 1 January 2008
