Marathon seeks to sell its Alaska refinery

Sinochem News reported on November 8, according to Ansense Energy, Marathon Petroleum said on November 2 that it was "seeking a strategic alternative" for its oil refinery and related businesses in Kenai, Alaska.

The refinery is located in Cook Inlet, about 60 miles southwest of Anchorage

The refinery was acquired by Marathon in 2018, when Marathon also acquired another refinery company, Andover

The plant mainly processes domestic crude oil from Alaska, such as Alaska North Slope crude oil, and some international crude oil, mainly Russian Sokol crude oil

As early as May 2021, MRC stated that the American refiner Marathon Petroleum Company stated that its board of directors had approved the conversion of the Martinez refinery in California into a renewable diesel plant
