    Anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins are two end products in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway, which have strong antioxidant properties and have important biological significance for plants to respond to different external environments


    The biosynthesis of anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins in plants shares the same substrates and upstream synthetic pathways, and after they are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum, they are eventually transported to the vacuole for sequestration


    In this study, the researchers found that MtGSTF7 , the homolog of AtTT19 in Medicago truncatula, is required for anthocyanin accumulation but not procyanidin accumulation
