Vietnam's " Customs Online" reported on September 8 that according to the statistics of the Vietnam Aquatic Products Processing and Export Association (VASEP), as of the first half of August this year, Vietnam's fish export to Mexico reached 43.
76 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of nearly 70%
    .
Mexico has now surpassed Brazil to become Vietnam's primary export market for fish in Latin America
    .

Trade barriers from China in the first half of this year and the decline in EU fish survey imports in the past few years have led Vietnamese fish survey companies to turn to potential markets in ASEAN, the Middle East or Latin America
    .
Among them, the number of fish exported to Brazil and Mexico has increased significantly year-on-year
    .

Especially in the second quarter of this year, Chayu’s exports to Mexico have grown at a triple-digit rate and achieved impressive results, with a year-on-year increase of 166% -232%
    .

Mexico is the second highest per capita income market in Latin America (after Brazil) and a market for CPTPP economies
    .
According to the CPTPP agreement, starting from the third year, the import tax rate for aquatic products entering the Mexican market is 0%
    .
Chayu is Mexico's most imported aquatic product by volume and value, followed by tuna
    .
This is a huge opportunity for Vietnamese companies
    .

Currently, the average price of frozen fish fillets exported to the Mexican market is US$1.
    75-1.
    82/kg
    .
Many fish survey companies have moved to Mexico from some other markets.
As of the end of July this year, more than 40 Vietnamese aquatic products companies have exported fish surveys to Mexico
    .
The largest companies are: IDI CORP, NAVICO and DATHACO
    .

It is worth noting that Chayu processing companies in Dong Thap, An Giang, Bin Tho, Can Tho and Vinh Long are promoting Chayu's export to the Mexican market
    .

Currently, the two main types of fish-checking products exported from Vietnam to Mexico are frozen fish-checking fillets and frozen fish-checking pieces
    .

Xie He, a market investigation expert at VASEP, said that he has seen the potential of exporting to Mexico and some other markets, but the most important problem for Vietnamese exporters is to resume stable production as soon as possible after the end of social isolation
    .

In fact, starting from the end of July, half of the fish processing plants in the Jiulong River Plain had to be closed because they were unable to produce in accordance with the “3 on-site” requirements or because workers contracted the new crown pneumonia
    .
As a result, in the first half of August this year, Chayu’s exports to Mexico went from a positive triple-digit increase to a year-on-year decline of 12.
    6%
    .

Xie He expressed the hope that after social quarantine in many places to control the epidemic, fish processing companies can return to stable production as soon as possible, maintain orders, and promote exports
