Recently, with the passage of the Energy Transition Law, developers of Mexican solar power plants asked the State Administration of Taxation to cancel the 15% import tariff
imposed on photovoltaic panels.
Since June 2014, due to the reclassification of tariff numbers, the State Administration of Taxation of Mexico has increased the import duty on photovoltaic panels from zero to 15%.
The Mexican Solar Energy Association (Asolmex) believes that Mexico's domestic supply is not enough to meet market demand, so tariffs have become an obstacle
to the development of solar energy.
At the same time, the Mexican PV panel manufacturer said that tariffs should not be eliminated to prevent unfair competition
from Asian PV panel imports.
