    Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative brain disease


    Recently, the team of Lai Ling, a researcher at the Kunming Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led the way to find that the expression of the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 increased significantly in the brain in AD patients, and further research found that LL-37 can induce chloride channel CLIC1 upregulation and membrane transfer, and activate CLIC1 to induce oxidative free radical production, glial cell overexcitement, neuroinflammation and so on
