The Southwest Wildlife Germplasm Bank of China began operation in 2007.

At present, the germplasm resource bank has 2093 kinds and 24100 pieces of plant in vitro culture materials, 7324 kinds and 65456 pieces of DNA molecular materials, 2280 kinds and 22800 pieces of microbial strains and 2203 kinds and 60262 pieces of animal germplasm resources
