    On July 20, Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Malaysia , Datuk James Ratib, said that as of 2021, the Musang King durian plantation area in Sabah will reach 2,053 hectar.
     
    According to reports, during the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP, 2021 to 2025), the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Malaysia, through the Ministry of Agriculture of Sabah, will develop a total of 660 hectares of high-quality Musang King and black sub-species durian trees in 20 distric.

    Among them, Nabawan, Sabah, has a planting target of 20 hectares, with a total of 20 operators participati.
     
    The ministry will promote the development of the durian industry through land clearing, providing high-quality seedlings and fertilizers, and agricultural equipment, and will provide operators with assistance of RM10,000-25,000 per hectare, equivalent to about 15,000-38,000 yuan per hecta.
     
    In 2021, the agricultural station has distributed 21,500 Musang King saplings and 4,000 black thorn saplings, and new Musang King disease-resistant varieties are also being cultivat.
    In addition to the Ministry of Agriculture, 4 private nurseries have obtained SPBT certificates and can cultivate 125,000 Musang King and Blackthorn saplings each ye.
     
    In 2021, 24 durian farms have obtained Malaysia GAP and organic certificati.
    Companies such as Top Fruits Sdn Bhd are interested in investing in Sabah to set up frozen durian processing plan.
    However, due to the fact that the durian farms in Sabah are still relatively young and have not met the export volume requirements, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Malaysia has not yet received an application for a durian export licen.
