The reporter learned from Yunnan University on the 21st that the key laboratory of natural resources medicinal chemistry of the Ministry of Education of the school has cooperated with multiple research teams to publish an online publication in the international authoritative professional journal "Journal of Medicinal Chemistry" to obtain biphenyl ring from the traditional Chinese medicine Schisandra.

Liver cancer ranks fourth in the global mortality rate of cancer patients, and ranks second in the mortality rate of cancer patients in China

Existing studies have shown that small ribonucleic acid is involved in the occurrence and development of liver cancer.

Xiao Weilie's research group, Key Laboratory of Natural Resources Medicinal Chemistry of the Ministry of Education of Yunnan University, jointly with Wang Fei's research team from Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hu Kaifeng's research team from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Zhang Hongbin's research team from Yunnan University, and Sun Han, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences The research group of Academician Dong found through high-throughput screening that this biphenylcyclooctene-like lignans regulate the biosynthesis process of small ribonucleic acid in tumor cells, and determined that it targets the TRBP protein involved in the mature process of small ribonucleic acid.

Furthermore, by simplifying the skeleton of biphenyl cyclooctene-like lignans, they designed and synthesized more than 20 derivatives, obtained compound 9 with good activity and specificity, and synthesized compound 9 as a biotin probe.

It is reported that the current cooperative research team has applied for a national invention patent in this regard, and is stepping up the follow-up work related to the development of new anti-liver cancer drugs for such new compounds
