According to Myanmar's Golden Phoenix Chinese newspaper, Myanmar's Ministry of Electricity and Energy said that in order to meet its domestic power supply needs, Myanmar authorities will build liquefied natural gas power plants within three years to achieve power
supply to areas lacking electricity.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy of Myanmar said that the current power station construction project has been basically determined, and four liquefied natural gas power plants
will be built in Gambu District, Tuwa Township, Tanintharyi Province, Mylausai District, Irrawaddy Province, Kyaukpyu Township District of Rakhine State, and Anong Township District of Yangon Province.
The total installed capacity of the four LNG power plants will reach 3,111 MW, of which 1,230 MW will be installed in Gamble, 1,390 MW in Mylaosai, 135 MW in Kyaukphyu and 356 MW in Anong
.
According to Myanmar's National Economic Development Plan, Yangon Province is listed as the country's key power supply area, which is the largest demand for electricity in Myanmar and the country's first area for the implementation of power supply projects, and it is expected that by the fiscal year 2020-2021, Yangon Province's electricity demand will reach 6,000 MW, while the current maximum power supply capacity in Yangon Province is only 3,000 MW
.
