In a new study, scientists have developed a process model of narrow seam coating with variable widths as a basic and representative pattern feature of patterned seam coating.

To explain the observed process behavior, they distinguished between different configurations of the contact line nailing of the liquid bridge on the surface of the coating tool, and experimented to show how these configurations are related to the state of the process model that must be individually indicated.

they also demonstrate how the geometry of the liquid bridge and the intermediate contact angle range along its contact line correspond to the lag of the coating stripe width.
