    New National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030) Interpretation and Outlook - Mission and Challenges in the Field of Maternal and Child Nutrition" symposium, sponsored by the Women's and Children's Nutrition Branch of the Chinese Nutrition Society and co-sponsored by Danon Nudishia Early Life Nutrition, was held on November 12, 2017 in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, located on the shores of Meitai Lake.
    the meeting was co-chaired by academician Chen Junshi of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman wang Zhixuan of the Women's and Children's Nutrition Branch of the Chinese Academy of Nutrition. As one of the most famous experts in nutrition and food safety in China, Academician Chen Junshi made two special reports on the Introduction of the National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030) and Nutrition Package: Improving Supplements for Food Supplements for Chinese Children. Academician Chen interpreted the National Nutrition Plan from the aspects of general requirements, guiding ideology, basic principles and main objectives, and pointed out in the report that the National Nutrition Plan was the supporting document of the first "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline. Academician Chen highlighted the seven implementation strategies in the plan, including improving the policy standard system of nutrition regulations, strengthening nutrition capacity-building, strengthening nutrition and food safety monitoring and evaluation, developing the food nutrition and health industry, vigorously developing traditional food and health services, strengthening the sharing and utilization of basic data on nutritional health, and popularizing nutritional health knowledge.

    In the report Nutrition Package: Improving Supplements for Assisted Foods for Chinese Children, Academician Chen introduced the progress of nutrition package project, project effectiveness assessment report and so on. He pointed out that the anaemia and growth retardation rates of infants and young children in the areas where the project was implemented had decreased significantly, effectively improving the nutritional status of infants and young children, and health education was beginning to bear fruit. Project organizations are in place, interventions are working well, nutrition package coverage and effective use rate meet the target requirements. Academician Chen stressed that health education should be strengthened to promote changes in feeding behavior, to achieve knowledge-to-behavioral change, while strengthening the infant and young children complementary food added time, complementary food added types and frequency related knowledge publicity. He concluded by suggesting that the continued promotion of nutrition packages was important for promoting the healthy growth of children in poor areas.
