On October 27, 2021, researchers from the University of Washington published a research paper titled "Phthalates and New Plasticizer Concentrations in Foods of American Fast Food Chain Stores: A Preliminary Analysis" in the journal Nature

Studies have shown that phthalates detected in a popular fast-food chain McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut and other foods

 In this study, the researchers analyzed products from McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Taco Bell, and Chipotle stores in Texas

 Researchers obtained 64 food samples from the chain, including burgers, french fries, chicken nuggets, chicken rolls and cheese pizza, and also collected three pairs of plastic gloves used by employees

Analysis found that 81% of the samples contained phthalic acid DnBP and 70% contained phthalic acid DEHP

Researchers pointed out that the foods with the highest phthalates content are meat, such as burgers or chicken rolls, while cheese pizza has the lowest content

In addition, the researchers also found other plasticizers such as DINCH, DEHT and DEHA in other samples, which are becoming substitutes for phthalates

The researchers said that the study found that phthalates and other plasticizers are widely present in prepared foods in American fast-food chains
