    Current inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treatment is ineffective in a large proportion of patients


    Combining somatic and single-cell transcriptomics, quantitative histopathology, and in situ localization techniques for three groups of IBD patients (totaln?=?376), we identified the gene modules co-expressed in the inflammatory response of heterogeneous tissues in IBD, and they mapped to different histopathology and cellular characteristics (pathological types)


    Etiology includes maladaptation between the host and its gut microbiota, which is a dialogue controlled by genetic and environmental factors1.


    ?M (OSM) and its receptor OSMR are associated with non-response to anti-tumor necrosis factor therapy in the inflamed bowel of patients with IBD5.


    The transcriptomic changes associated with treatment non-response reflect changes in cell composition and activation status associated with different histological characteristics

    The molecular, cellular, and histological definitions of these diseases provide the basis for the rational targeted therapy of existing drugs, and provide another way for inflammation of anergic ulcers with remodeling of fibroblasts and neutrophils
