Researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) have launched a new online tool that can advance medical discoveries faster to reverse progressive hearing loss

The portal allows researchers to quickly access data and provides easy-to-interpret visualizations of data sets

The Hearing Recovery Project is a non-profit research consortium funded by the Hearing Health Foundation.

Understanding how the expression of certain genes play a role in hair cell regeneration, and how enzymes and other proteins mediate this process, may lead to new treatments that can trigger hair cell regeneration to reverse hearing loss

"By allowing rapid access to large data sets, the gear portal can serve as a valuable hub to build communities around the public research field," said Claire M.
