China News Agency, Beijing, May 26 (Reporter Sun Zifa) Springer Nature released a news on the evening of the 26th that the supplement "2021 China Nature Index" published on the same day showed that China’s contribution to the chemical field is the highest in the world.

Among all the four disciplines tracked by the Nature Index, China's contribution in the field of chemistry in 2018 has surpassed that of the United States, and it is close to the United States in the two fields of earth and environmental sciences and physics, excluding life sciences

The data of the Nature Index from 2015 to 2020 show how China has narrowed the gap with the United States in terms of high-quality research output: In 2015, China’s contribution share (a key indicator of the Nature Index) was 37% of that of the United States, and it has increased by 2020.

The latest "Nature" supplement also shows the 10 regions with the highest scientific output in China in 2020 based on their contribution shares, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hubei, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shandong, Tianjin and Hong Kong

According to the contribution share of articles in 2020, the "Nature" supplement lists China's top 50 research institutions.

David Swinbanks, the founder of the Nature Index, said that the University of Science and Technology of China and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, two universities affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have seen their recent rises

The Supplement of Nature stated that the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan are China's top five scientific research partners in the Nature Index
