Recently, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) issued a tender to select independent power producers to build multiple solar PV plants
across the country.

Selected projects will be awarded a 25-year PPA, while the Nepal Electricity Authority will provide incentives in the form of a Feasibility Gap Grant (VGF
).
This method is often used
in the Indian solar market.
VGF programs typically support large infrastructure projects through public-private partnerships, with financial grants
at some stage of project construction.
In general, this support is only available
when projects are selected through a competitive bidding process.
Nepal Electricity Authority will fund the tender
with a US$20 million feasibility gap grant from the Asian Development Bank's Strategic Climate Fund at the end of 2016.
"The funding should ensure that at least 25 MW of solar power is installed by 2018, but more importantly, it will provide a business model that can be replicated and scaled up to other parts
of Oman," ADB said.
