    A study published recently in The Journal of Neurology, Neurology, looked at the association between the primary component score of triglycerides (TG) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) and biomarkers of amyloid, tau protein, neurodegenerative diseases and cerebrovascular disease (A/T/N/V)researchers analyzed non-directed lipids from 689 participants in the AD Neuroimaging Initiative queue and measured serum levels in 84 TG species, including 190 normal adults (CN), 339 patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and 160 AD patientsThe researchers used master component analysis to reduce the dimensions of TG species, and a broad linear model approach to assess the differences in the major components between the diagnostic groups and the association between the main components and AD biomarkers, including CSF, MRI, and fluoride glucose-PETIn both cases, Bonferroni adjustment methods were used to correct multiple comparisons9 main ingredients in 84 TG categories, 2 of which consist of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid SG (PUTG), which are significantly related to MCI and ADCompared to CN, the PUTG content observed in MCI and AD was lowTHE PUTG PRIMARY COMPONENT SCORE WAS ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY RELATED TO THE SIZE OF THE HIPPOCAMPUS AND THE THICKNESS OF THE INNER OLFACTORY CORTEXIn the participants who carried the APOE-4 allele, these main components were significantly associated with CSF beta-amyloid protein 1-42 and the thickness of the inner olfactory cortex, this study shows that THE PUTG component score is significantly associated with diagnostic groups and AD biomarkers, a finding that is more pronounced in carriers of APOE 4These results need to be repeated in larger independent studies and follow-up in a vertical way
