The vagus nerve provides a network of incoming and outgoing nerves for the internal organs, and plays a key role between the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract
    .

Among them, both exogenous electrical stimulation and non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (nVNS) can activate the vagus nerve

Therefore, in this paper, in a randomized sham-controlled crossover clinical study of CP patients with chronic abdominal pain, resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy were used to describe the brain changes caused by NVN in the neck at two weeks

Experiments were conducted in the Department of Radiology and Gastroenterology, Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark.
Eligible patients were randomly assigned to receive two weeks of nVNS and sham treatment, using FDA- approved medical devices (GammaCore-S, ElectroCore LLC, Basking Ridge, NJ) , USA) as a treatment for nVNS
    .

During the study period, the patient participated in the same MRI and MRS four times before and after the two treatment periods

Compared with sham surgery, the functional connectivity is reduced after nVNS treatment
    .

Compared with sham surgery, there are several areas with reduced functional connectivity after treatment with nVNS in the neck

The results of the study indicate that the two-week nVNS treatment can modulate the functional brain connections of CP patients.
Although nVNS and sham treatment have similar effects on pain scores, the results of exploratory functional brain connection studies may indicate that nVNS has an effect on the brains of the patient population.
    Have a positive impact
