According to reports, the submarine cable system will also connect the domestic Ouemo to Lifou, with a total budget of about 42 million US dollars, the initial design is a single pair of fiber-optic cables to connect Nouvel in New Caledonia with the Suva submarine cable landing station in Fiji's capital, and provide a branch path to Vanuatu, with a total design capacity of 200Gbps

The project is designed to provide additional network capacity and resiliency
to the current Gondwana-1 cable system.
The Gondwana-1 cable system is a submarine cable system
connecting the capital to Sydney, Australia.
According to the plan, the construction of the new submarine cable system is expected to begin in 2020 and be commissioned
in 2021.
