New England: After the first dose-Covid-19 vaccine follow-up and ongoing protection measures

In December 2020, the United States launched an ambitious vaccination program to vaccinate Americans against Covid-19.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle to the success of the campaign is the public's hesitation on vaccination, which is the focus of extensive research.

The team surveyed 1,027 American adults from February 11 to 15, 2021.

Public beliefs about the time of protection, information provided at the time of the first vaccination, and related factors that support wearing a mask after vaccination.

This problem is particularly serious for racial and ethnic minorities, who are particularly vulnerable to the effects of multiple doses of vaccines.

Failure to stop the consumption of the second dose among members of minority groups may widen the racial gap in the number of deaths caused by HIV.

Secondly, in order to explore the current advantages and limitations of publicizing vaccinators, the team asked respondents who had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine (18%), and asked what they recalled from the first vaccination.

The development of guidelines must be a balance, on the one hand to encourage vaccinated people to continue to take preventive behavior to protect themselves and others, on the other hand to ensure that the public vaccination brings tangible benefits, including a slow but sure return to normal.

Finally, the study tested the relevance of supporting continued wearing of masks after vaccination.

Despite the current efforts, many Americans, including many who have already received the first dose of the vaccine, are still confused about the time of protection and the need for the second dose.

Vaccination campaigns must not only address concerns about product safety, but also provide clear guidance on the benefits of vaccines (for example, reducing the likelihood of serious illness and death).
