The team of Wu Cunxiang and Han Tianfu of the Institute of Crop Science of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Feng Yongjun team of the School of Life Sciences of Beijing Institute of Technology have made progress in joint research on the nodulation mechanism of soybeans.
Recently, they published a research paper online in "Acta Crop Science (English Edition)", proving the members of the MADS-box family GmNMHC5 plays an important role in the formation of soybean nodules
    .

The authors constructed GmNMHC5 gene overexpression and CRISPR-Cas9-mediated GmNMHC5 knockout lines respectively, and counted the nodulation phenotypes of the plants, and found that GmNMHC5 overexpression can significantly increase the number of soybean nodules, and the lines that knock out this gene The number of nodules dropped sharply, and even no nodules
    .

Using yeast two-hybrid, fluorescence two-molecular complementation and pull-down and other molecular biology techniques, the interaction protein GmGAI of GmNMHC5 was screened out

Combining with the GmNMHC5 gene's promotion effect on soybean flowering confirmed by the team in the early stage, this discovery also further proves that the members of the MADS-box family have a unique dual regulatory effect on legume nodulation and flowering, which is important for a comprehensive understanding of soybean growth and development.

    .

The cooperative research team has been committed to the study of the physiological and molecular mechanisms of soybean growth and development for a long time, and has made many progress in the study of the synergistic regulation of GmNMH series genes on soybean nodulation and flowering
    .

The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Modern Agricultural Industrial Technology System
