China Coatings Online News Information
ibm has developed a new polycarbonate recycling technology. IBM recently used a new way to recycle polycarbonate, a commonly used plastic in electronics and everyday products. According to China Coatings Onlineexperts, the company's research team has developed a project called "New Steps in the Chemical Process" - the transformation of polycarbonate to prevent the leaching of BPA, a chemical used to make polymers.
researchers at the company's California lab said heating after adding fluoride reactions would produce a new plastic without leaching bisphenols. They call this material a fangyl ester. Workers at the IBM Institute recycle old CDs to produce a plastic that is milder and chemically resistant than the original substance, and IBM says that when the powder is recombined, it prevents excessive decomposition and leaching bisphenols. Polycarbonate has been recycled in several traditional ways: sorting, washing, and decomposition (before it is converted into a new product). But IBM's study changed the chemical properties of the material without worrying about bisphenols.
according to China Coatings online
IBM researchers said in a statement that not only can these plastics be prevented from entering landfills, but they can also recycle materials to produce a new type of plastic that is safer and more stable to purify our water resources and produce medical equipment. IBM predicts that 2.7 million tons of polycarbonate could be produced globally each year. Bisphenols came into the public eye in 2008, when it was reported that bisphenols were leaching from the material in baby bottles.
