New Zealand's red meat exports fall in volume but continue to grow in value

The New Zealand Herald reported on July 6 that according to the latest data from the New Zealand Meat Industry Association (MIA), in May 2022, New Zealand 's red meat exports fell significantly, but the export value increased by 28% year -on-ye.
Among them, mutton export volume fell by 6% year-on-year, while export value increased by 23% year-on-year to S$456 milli.
Beef exports rose 1% year-on-year in volume and value rose 34% year-on-year to S$484 milli.
MIA chief executive Karapeva said exports of high-value meat products offset continued market volatility and rising cos.

In the first five months of 2022, lamb exports were 183,000 tonnes, down 14% year-on-year, and exports were S$2 billion, up 8% year-on-year; beef exports fell 6%, with exports worth S$2 billion, up 29% year-on-ye.

From the perspective of export markets, in May 2022, New Zealand's mutton exports to China dropped significantly, but exports to other markets continued to gr.
In the UK market in particular, New Zealand's 5,376t exports to the UK in the month were the highest since March 202 Karapeva said this reflected that a high-quality trade deal could free up as much market as possible, allowing companies to flexibly adjust and withstand downward pressu.
