    Nexans announces the acquisition of the Hornsea Phase 2 offshore wind project

    Nexans has won contracts worth more than €150 million to help Ørsted provide the most affordable offshore wind power
    .
    The project includes more than 200 km of 245 kV high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) submarine output cable system
    for the nearshore section of the Hornsea 2 wind farm.

    Currently, one of the latest wind power projects is Ørsted's Hornsea 2 project, where Nexans has been awarded contracts worth more than €150 million to power
    over 200 km of 245 kV cross-linked polyethylene insulated (XLPE) nearshore outlet cable systems.

    The offshore wind farm is located in the North Sea, about 89 kilometres
    off the Yorkshire coast.
    Once operational, it will be the world's largest offshore wind farm
    .
    The wind farm, a sister project to Hornsea 1, will provide enough electricity
    to more than 1.
    3 million homes.
    Ørsted is now under construction of the project with a completion date of
    2022.

    To bring the power generated by the wind farm to shore, the project will be equipped with Nexans three-core HVAC submarine cables
    .
    These 245 kV XLPE cables will be the nearshore part
    of the exit circuit connecting the reactive substation of the wind farm to the onshore substation.
    The circuits will include three separate nearshore output cables and will follow a similar route to Hornsea 1, for which Nexans Norway earlier provided 139km of three-phase 36 kV submarine cables to interconnect 58 wind turbines and connect them to offshore substations

    The route will land at Horseshoe Point, from where land cables carry power to the North Killingholme onshore substation
    .
