Nexans eco-friendly fiber optic cables help connect the Amazon rainforest
According to the official website of Facts, Nexans Norway will provide 275 kilometers of underwater cables
for the Amazon rainforest Internet project in Brazil.
According to reports, the Amazon Rainforest Internet Project is the Connected Amazonia Program proposed by the Brazilian government, which aims to achieve the Internet for 4 million people in the Amazon rainforest
.
The project will build a 7,700-kilometer fiber network connecting 52 regions
across the country through five different cable lines.
Because of the special environment of the Amazon rainforest, the fiber optic cable in this area is laid by means of
underwater cables.
Nexans was responsible for providing the 275-kilometre-long
underwater fibre optic cable connecting the Coari and Tefé riverbeds.
For the project, Nexans recommends using high-performance cables with minimal environmental impact, which can meet the local community's need for internet connectivity while protecting the fragile Amazon rainforest ecosystem

Nexans said it will provide the Amazon rainforest with a fiber optic cable that does not release harmful substances into the delicate river ecosystem, the URC-1 series of fiber optic cables, which meets all international standards
for submarine cables.
