The Greek Cyclades Interconnection Project aims to ensure a reliable, economical and adequate power supply
to Syros in Syros, Paros in Paros, Tinos in Tinos, Mykonos in Mykonos and Naxo in Naxos.
As the complex three-phase project enters its final "C" phase, independent transmission operator ADMIE has signed a new contract with Nexans worth around 111 million euros to supply the cables and related services
    required for the project.

The Cyclades Interconnection Project aims to ensure a reliable power supply to the Cyclades while addressing local environmental issues
    .
By connecting the Cyclades, ADMIE seeks to reduce the number of existing power stations that use heavy fuel oil and light fuel oil (diesel) and create the necessary infrastructure
to harness the region's significant renewable energy potential.

The complete turnkey contract awarded to Nexans during Phase "C" of the project includes subsea survey, design, fabrication, installation and protection of 150 kV high-voltage AC three-core submarine power cables and internal fiber optic components
    .
The total length of the route reaches 108 kilometers, and the maximum water depth is expected to be 300 meters
    .

The project's submarine cables will be produced by Nexans' Halden plant in Norway, while the fiber-optic cables will be produced
at Rognan's specialized plant in Norway.
The advanced cable-laying vessel Nexans Skagerrak will install interconnecting cables
at water depths of up to 300 meters.

According to reports, other projects implemented by Nexans in the Mediterranean include the Malta-Sicily submarine interconnection project, the Italy-Montenegro submarine interconnection project, and the Spain-Mallorca interconnection project
    .

According to the plan, the delivery and commissioning of the Cycladic Islands Connectivity is scheduled to be completed
    in August 2020.
