Nexans has been awarded a contract from Equinor, the Statoil company, to supply umbilicals
for the next phase of the multi-stage Snøhvit development.
Nexans was awarded another umbilical cable contract for the Statoil Snohvit project
Nexans will design, manufacture and supply a total of 42 km of static infield and on-site umbilical cables to control subsea production systems
.
The current phase of the Askeladd development project, located at a water depth of approximately 250 meters, will supply 21 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 2 million cubic meters of condensate to the Hammerfest LNG plant, which is expected to come on stream
by the end of 2020.
Among the existing infrastructure in Snøhvit, Nexans' umbilical cables have been deployed in previous phases of projects, including 145 km of umbilical cable
, which remains the longest in the world.
For the development of Askeladd, Nexans will supply static subsea umbilicals with complex cross-sections, including 3 kV power, fiber optic communications and hydraulic components for chemical injection, as well as a range of connection and termination accessories
.
Electrical and fiber optic components will be manufactured
at the Lognan plant in northern Norway.
The contract will also involve more than 50 local subcontractors and suppliers
.
The complete umbilical cable system will be developed, manufactured and tested
at the Nexans facility in Halden, Norway.
