    Japan's Oman consortium reportedly won a contract
    for a 100 MW solar power plant by the Oman Petroleum Development Company (PDO) in the south of the country.

    According to the Oman News Agency, the engineering of the project will power the PDO's internal operations, including its design, procurement, construction, commissioning, financing, operation and maintenance
    .

    PDO said the project's power output will be structured
    on an Independent Power Producer (IPP) model under the terms of a 23-year power purchase agreement.

    "We look forward to working with our partners to establish our first IPP renewable energy project, which is another component to
    support Oman's huge potential in renewable energy," said the Managing Director of PDO.

    The move is the latest in a series of PDO solar initiatives
