5 hours of exercise per week: the risk of all-cause death dropped by nearly 70%!

In healthy people, adequate physical activity has been shown to counteract the negative effects of sedentary behavio.

The study included 1,535 cancer survivors, 61% were women, with a mean age of 61 year.

After adjusting for a range of confounding factors, the findings showed that sedentary sitting for more than 8 hours per day in cancer survivors was associated with an 81% higher risk of all-cause mortality compared with less than 4 hours per day of sittin.

Physical activity was then grouped, with more than 150 minutes per week defined as the active physical activity group and less than 150 minutes per week as the inactive grou.

In a joint analysis, the researchers found that compared with cancer survivors who were physically active and sedentary for less than 6 hours, cancer survivors who were physically inactive for more than 8 hours a day had the highest risk of death, with a hazard ratio of 38 (95% CI: 99-67.

Friends who are reading the article, can you still sit still? Don't worry, don't worry, the above is the case of all cancer survivors, what about breast cancer survivors? Then look!

Data of 30,000 breast cancer patients: the risk of death is reduced by 40%!

In February 2019, the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists "Breast" published a research report online from the University of Athens, Greece, and the University of Milan, Italy, which further quantified the impact of physical activity after breast cancer diagnosis on all-cause mortality, breast cancer death, and breast cancer recurrenc.

This systematic review and meta-analysis searched PubMed for observational studies published through November 2017 to analyze the association of total mortality, breast cancer death, breast cancer recurrence and any type of physical activity in women diagnosed with breast cance.

RESULTS: A meta-analysis of 10 studies was searched and screened, with a mean follow-up of 5 to 17 year.

Women with the highest versus lowest levels of recreational physical activity (quintiles or quarters):

    42% lower risk of all-cause mortality (hazard ratio: 58, 95% confidence interval: 45 to 75; 8 studies, heterogeneity: 54%)

40% lower risk of death from breast cancer (hazard ratio: 60, 95% confidence interval: 36 to 99; 5 studies, heterogeneity: 77%)

21% lower risk of recurrence and worsening (hazard ratio: 79, 95% confidence interval: 60 to 05; 5 studies, heterogeneity: 64%)

Thus, the findings of this study suggest that leisure physical activity levels after breast cancer diagnosis are inversely related to all-cause mortality and breast cancer risk rates, and have an inverse trend but not significant relationship with recurrence rate.
