Statkraft, the Norwegian national power company, said it would enter the Spanish market
after signing a 15-year power purchase agreement.
The agreement is to buy electricity
from unsubsidized Spanish solar farms.

The solar power plant, which will be commissioned by the end of 2018 with a capacity of 170 MW, is one of the first solar projects of
this size in Europe.
The power station will be built without state aid and developed
by the German company BayWa Renewable Energy.
A spokesman for Stat's state electricity said the company plans to supply electricity to commercial companies through bilateral contracts and through a wholesale market where other traders can buy electricity from the Spanish electricity
exchange.
As Norway's main hydropower producer, Statkraft also operates in international markets and will increase solar power plant production to its 15,000 MW trading capacity

The solar power plant will generate about 300 gigawatts of electricity per year, enough to power
about 93,000 homes in Spain.
Stat did not disclose the amount
of the agreement.
