Norwegian gas company Gassco said on Friday that Norway's gas exports reached a new high of 36.
8 billion cubic meters this summer, and deliveries in 2018 are expected to be on par with the record annual deliveries reached in 2017, Reuters reported on
    September 21.

From May to August (usually the season when gas exports are less), Norwegian deliveries are almost on par with normal winter levels for European importers, who need to replenish gas reserves
that were depleted during last year's cold winter.

    In 2017, Gassco transported 117.
    4 billion cubic meters
from Norway to continental Europe and the UK via a pipeline system.
    This is Norway's
largest gas export in 40 years.

Gassco added that the export of gas to Germany through the Emden terminal, which went into operation in 2016, contributed significantly to the record shipments this summer
    .

"Not only has Norway's continental shelf production increased compared to before, the transport system has also handled these increases well
    ," Leversund said.
