Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals) has started producing a new version of BPO Perkadox GB-50 in Los Reyes, Mexico. It is the first dry BPO on the market that does not use the desensitizer phthalates (DCHP), which was recently reclassified as a class 1B reproductive toxin by the European Union.
Perkadox GB-50 is used as a curing agent for road marking, flooring, elastic roof coatings, adhesives, chemical anchors and other acrylic composites
China
.
With the GB-50, we have developed a solution that solves DCHP-related problems and meets customer needs," said Johan Landfors, managing director of Nouryon Polymer Chemistry. "We launched the new formula in 2018 and it has attracted a lot of global attention. The completion of the Los Reyes expansion ensures that we are able to meet future market demand growth. The
and upgrading of Los Reyes, including the construction of a new peroxide facility, involved an investment of more than 12 million euros.
Ricado Castanedo, Los Reyes Field Manager and National Director of Mexico: "Los Reyes has benefited greatly from Nouryon's commitment to the site. Over the past year, we have hired more than 100 people to support our expansion and ensure that we continue to provide industry-leading support to our growing customer base. The
is the latest in a series of investments by Nouryon to provide better services and development to its customers in the polymer market. The company is continuing to strengthen its production network to provide ongoing supply security to customers in the North American polymer market. Other capacity is also planned to go online in Brazil, China and India.
