Recently, the OECD published 6 new testing guidelines and 10 updated or corrected testing guidelines documents
    .
Of these, Test Guide 467, which contains two defined methods (DA) for eye damage and eye irritation caused by non-surfactant liquids, is the second of its kind after last year's use for skin sensitization (OECD 497) guide
    .

This guideline aims to overcome some of the limitations of relying on individual test methods, thereby increasing confidence in non-animal test results
    .
OECD 467 provides a complete alternative to animal testing (the Rabbit Draize test) and is able to generate data for classification of eye irritation: no classification, severe eye irritation category 1 and eye irritation category 2
    .
