EllaLink, a high-capacity and low-latency fiber-optic submarine cable that directly connects Europe and Latin America, will establish a direct connection in the Sines and Lisbon metropolitan areas, the Olisipo system
.
The Olipopo system is designed to connect all international submarine cable landings in Portugal with the main data centers in the region, using a secure and risk-proof infrastructure
.
The new fibre-optic submarine cable will land in Carcavelos and Sines, and a branch path will be built to connect the Seixal and Sesimbra cable landing stations, connecting the Setubal region
.
According to the plan, the system will contain 288 fibers, and the total design capacity of the 110-kilometer-long fully buried cable will reach 4.
3 Tbps
.
In addition, the robustness of the cable will be enhanced by line engineering, with special attention to cable crossing, full submarine and surface buried strategies, full cable armouring and additional shore-end protection
using bore tubes at Sines.
The Olipopo system will provide direct POP-to-POP connectivity
between major data centers located in the Cinness and Lisbon metropolitan areas.
The Olipo submarine cable route has attracted the attention
of major market players.
EllaLink stressed that with this new cable development, it will integrate more customers, aiming to collaborate to expand and build a very important connection
.
Oliposipo is expected to be operational
in 2024.
